Associate Professor, University of Milan. Chairperson of A.I.Re.C. (Association for Informatics and Civic Networking of Lombardy), which groups the communities of the Lombard Civil Networks.
Her research interests includes Petri nets as concurrency theory, programming languages (namely, object-oriented and concurrent programming languages) and the applications of ICT to support life and work within social and office systems. In this field, in the '80s she undertook a programme of research and education on workers' participation in system design, and was later a member of the team that conceived and developed one of the first CSCW prototypes (CHAOS, Commitment Handling Active Office System).
