Maurizio Garbati

Teacher, pioneer in gender studies

 

Professor of Technology, he conducts studies dealing with methodological innovation in scientific-technological contexts, paying particular attention to the relationship between new technologies and the layout of learning environments. He participated in various projects relating to the development of significant learning contexts, during which he collaborated in the outlining of an intelligent toys research methodology. He has now for several years been studying Robotics in educational contexts, with a particular focus on the relationship between Robotics and Constructivism, to learning research and teaching technologies. He has dedicated himself, in particular, to the development of concepts, methodologies and technological instruments with the aim of investigating the character of natural learning processes through the creation of artificial creatures that are able to interact with their environment independently. He is currently coordinating a micro-robotics Lab and has authored a text entitled “Micro-robotics Laboratory”. His cultural knowledge, research and professional experiences led to his appointment as an individual Expert by the European Commission - Relations extérieures, Europe-Aide, Cooperation Office, in the fields of: Education & Training Programmes and Culture & Information. He was also part of the research group dealing with Technological education set up by the Regional Research Institute IRRE Emilia Romagna. He is currently the head of the Robotics section of Le Scienze Web News® - since 2000 the science on web Scientific Magazine.
