“Where others see limits, I see opportunities”. As a result of being born without fibulae, Aimee Mullins had both of her legs amputated just below the knee at the age of 1. Today, at 33 years of age, she is a model, actress and athlete: she has run against “able-bodied” athletes, participated in the 1996 Paralympics in Atlanta and set new world records in the 100m, 200m and long jump.
She spends a significant portion of her time supporting and promoting various non-profit associations, including the Women’s Sport Foundation and an American association of which she is Vice President called ‘Just one Break’, which helps people with disabilities to find work.
Her favourite motto is: “Confidence is the sexiest thing a woman can have. It’s much sexier than any body part” (Oprah Magazine, May 2004).
