Teacher, expert in social networking

Caterina Policaro is a teacher, blogger and expert in e-learning and educational technologies. She is also interested in the dynamics of social networks and online communication.
 
With a degree in Foreign Languages and Literature at the University of Calabria, she attended various advanced courses on long-distance learning and educational planning. She then obtained a Master’s degree in “E-learning design and management” at the University of Florence (2002) and, in 2003, won a grant for the OET – Online Education and Training – course at Bocconi University (Milan).
She co-authored “Emotive intelligence and e-learning” and “From Learning Objects to Knowledge Objects. What does the WEB produce?” with Jose Mangione. She has spoken at several workshops organised by the Italian Teachers Association (AIF) on the topic of “E-learning: opportunities and prospects for development through long-distance learning” (Potenza, April 2005 and Vibo Valentia, April 2004). She has also written “Users’ perceptions and value added of professional online communities: the case of elearningoutch.it” (Form@re newsletter, September/October 2003) and “Balancing skills, objective evaluation and portfolios. Three worlds to integrate, a model for the Master’s in ‘E-learning design and management’” (For@re newsletter, March/April 2002 – http://formare.erickson.it).
In May 2003, she published “108 criteria to evaluate e-learning platforms” in the AA.VV. volume entitled “Women and Technology: taking advantage of FAD experiences for female employment”.
She continues to share her knowledge in this field on the www.catepol.net blog, which, in April 2009, was classed the best blog in Italy and the 4th best in Europe at the European Blog Awards in Bilbao.
