LinkedIn is used by professionals to find resources, make sales and find jobs - and make contact with old friends and others with common interests. There are many "groups" that can be joined, and where members can contact other members. Some are work, profession or geography related, others are by interests. This linking proves useful in many ways - by finding, contacting and connecting with a person with specific skills by having something in common with them.

Buzz

What is Buzz? While experts in the field will no doubt know, those less familiar or less comfortable with technology may not. In the online world, what is meant by Buzz – an onomatopoeic word that clearly refers to a constant sound, hum or murmur, or at least to the creation of sound, noise and interest – is precisely “talk of..”, generated by acts of referencing and linking others to websites, forums etc..
To generate Buzz thus means to talk about and, consequently, to create and draw attention to...
Generating Buzz therefore cultivates visibility, significance, knowledge, awareness of a new activity and, not least, business opportunities.

With regard to Women&Technologies then, creating Buzz fulfils the important purpose of making ourselves known and allowing others to understand who we are and what Women&Technologies is; that is, a group that will continue to exist and grow beyond the conference of 8th September, 2008.
And, in order to do so, it is sufficient to insert our link among the others present on your website, or in the forums and social networks that you are a member of.
The more it is talked about, referenced and inserted into the Web, the better. This activity contributes to lending visibility, via search engines, not only to the conference itself but also to the particular themes that we will approach, discuss and continue to discuss in the future.
And the results are monitored. We measure everything using innovative metrics suited to both specific topics and macro geographical areas. This allows us to better analyse the issues that generate the greatest interest and to remain on top of the situation, in real time if not sooner.
