Giulia Veronesi is Director of Lung Cancer Early Detection Unit at the Department of Thoracic Surgery, European Institute of Oncology in Milan, Italy.
She is a fellow of the European Board of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons and member of the European Societies of Thoracic Surgery, ESTS and EACTS. She is active member of the Committee of Robotic Cardiothoracic Surgery at the EACTS. She is Principal Investigator of a NCI-supported chemoprevention trial with inhalated Budesonide and leads one of the largest lung cancer screening research trials in Europe with low dose CT scan (the Cosmos Trial). She is responsible of the program of Thoracic Robotic Surgery at the European Institute of Oncology and funding member of the Clinical Robotic Surgical Association (CRSA).
Her main interests cover the detection and treatment of early stage lung cancer, minimally invasive and robotic surgery of lung and mediastinal tumors and chemoprevention of lung cancer. She collaborates with the Division of Molecolar Medicine of the IEO in the fiel of lung cancer stem cells and molecular markers for early detection and prognosis of lung cancer.
